So we walked into a Yankee store

On vacation my sister and I spotted a Yankee candle store. I was anxious to check out my competition and to spy on their new and upcoming scents. We walked in and started opening the lids to smell the new scents of candles. One after another, we'd open the lid, sniff, and nothing. No scent. NADA. We both looked at each other and said the same thing "I don't smell anything". Just then an employee walked up to us to offer her assistance. My sister asked her "Why can't we smell anything?" The employee went into an explanation of that the "oils gather on the lid and mysteriously not within the wax and that if we want to sample the scent of the candle we must smell the lid."
Dumbfounded my sister and I looked at each other. We told the girl "thank you" and she went about her business. I looked at my sister and asked "So what are you going to burn the lid or the wax?"

Scents to watch for and more

We are currently testing some new scents for the Fall/Winter scent line up like;

Groovy Baby - a mix of Patchouli, Vanilla and Chi. With light notes of cedar, oak, sandalwood and musk.
Bayberry - a classic Holiday or winter scent.
Tradition says: "A bayberry candle burned down to it's socket, brings luck to the home and wealth to the pocket".

If these scents pass our testing procedure (great scent power) then they will be available in September or before.

If you've not had a chance to stop by our new store location at 101 S. Mary Street, Hedgesville WV, put us on the priority list! Mel's Smells shares a store location with "The Jewelry Girl" - Handmade semi-precious jewelry, chainmaille and nature photography. Almost every season we are deleting slow selling scents and bringing in new ones.
With that, it affects our candle of the month club scent plan packages. When you order you candle of the month club subscription we try to put aside one each of your scents ordered for the most part so this doesn't affect current club members.
